Japan banned imports of live cattle from Australia



TOKYO Japan's Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday that Japan has temporarily suspended imports of live cattle from Australia, after they discovered that some cows have a digestive system.

A ministry official said the animals that were infected with the disease arrived in Japan by air and was tests found that Johne's disease or paratuberculosis in quarantine.
He said Tokyo had issued a temporary ban on May 27, but will not announce from a certain number of cows with the disease.
